Here, to help you learn, I'd like to introduce you to Hinamori Ami (left), and Hinamori Amu (right)! They are sisters, and a great example of honorifics!

So let's say that Amu is looking for the TV remote under the couch, and is asking Ami if she knows where it is.
Amu will say: "Ami-chan, do you know where the remote is?"
Amu put the honorific "-chan" behind Ami's name because "-chan" means that you think of that person (who is younger than you) as "cute", or something along the lines of that.
Ami will respond: "I have it in my hand, Amu-chi!"
Ami put the honorific "-chi" after "Amu" because ''-chi" is the honorific that is used by kids to referr to older siblings and sometimes older friends.
